More modern and accessible than its predecessor, Vinegar Hill House, VHH Foods is an all-day café/gastropub in Dumbo’s Empire Stores development offering picturesque views of the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge. Inspired by L.A.’s Gjusta and San Francisco’s Tartine Manufactory, VHH Foods is counter service by day and table service by night, with indoor and outdoor seating available. Co-owner and chef Jean Adamson’s focuses are quirky pastries (grapefruit-and-black-sesame tart), experimental hot dogs (one is decked with curry ketchup and minty fried shallots), and hearty sandwiches (pulled pork with jicama and jalapeno). Treat yourself to one of the proprietary Blue Bottle coffee creations (we recommend the Kentucky Coffee, with bourbon and crème de cacao), and if you’re ordering takeout, consider enjoying it picnic-style in the surrounding Brooklyn Bridge Park.
