Founded by artist Martín Soto Climent and independent curator Chris Sharp in 2013, Lulu represents, in many ways, the future of Mexico City’s rapidly growing and diversifying art scene. What started as a miniscule 140-square-foot cube has now expanded into the next-door building, creating two exhibition spaces that have drawn in high-profile exhibitors such as Yoko Ono, Lisa Oppenheim, Nina Canell, Aliza Nisenbaum, Francis Alÿs, Darren Bader, Kate Newby, Manfred Pernice, and B. Wurtz. Lulu’s own biennial, the Lulennial, occurs every two years. Plan your visit ahead of time, as the gallery is only open on Saturdays or by appointment.
