Run by the owners of the bar La Clandestina, El Palenquito is the evening spot for mezcal taste-testers seeking a casual night out in hip Roma Norte. Here, non-industrial varieties of mezcal, produced mostly in Oaxaca, are brought in via giant water jugs and presented with detailed production specifics; beverages can be ordered by the ounce or pitcher. Co-owner Karla Morles rounds out her menu with Oaxacan snacks like chapulines (fried grasshoppers) and offers artisanal beers as well.
