Two blocks from the Zócalo, Downtown México offers a unique opportunity to curious visitors. The converted 17th-century palace, which sits on a UNESCO World Heritage site, is among the oldest in the area retaining its original architectural style. And with several other colonial landmarks nearby, the city’s history is at guests’ fingertips. Renting one of the 17 rooms at Downtown México is not without perks: a spacious rooftop terrace complete with a pool, jacuzzi, and full bar overlooks the historic center and downtown skyscrapers, while the attractions abutting the hotel (including the must-try Mexico City restaurant Azul Histórico) are first-rate. Visitors seeking quiet, however, might want to look elsewhere. The hotel is downtown, after all.
