Nestled in the heart of West Hollywood, Petit Ermitage is an 80-room boutique hotel that makes an esoteric nod, in terms of name and style, to Catherine the Great’s Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. The quirky surroundings here are carefully orchestrated mix of Russian, Venetian, SoCal-bohemian, and modern-art influences; guests are treated to the hotel’s private collection of works by Dalí, Miró, de Kooning, and more upon arrival. Although Petit Ermitage caters to an unpretentious-creative crowd, the guestrooms—which come complete with custom-designed mattresses, Turkish-crafted fireplaces, and butler service—are as sumptuous as they are commodious. A stay here, by the way, isn’t over until you’ve lounged by the saltwater rooftop pool and taken a starlit stroll through the hummingbird-and-butterfly gardens.
