The second NIGHT + MARKET outpost in the L.A. area (the original is in West Hollywood; song means “two” in Thai), this unpretentious but celebrity-filled Silver Lake hangout serves the most authentic Thai dishes in town. So authentic and flavorful, in fact, that they’ve earned chef-owner Kris Yenbamroong (who has no formal culinary training) two nods from the James Beard Foundation in the Rising Star Chef category, as well as accolades from the Los Angeles Times food critics Jonathan Gold and Patric Kuh. Try one of the jaan duan (“fast plates”) if you’re swinging by for lunch (we like the grapow khai dow, a medley of minced chicken, garlic, and Thai basil) and Yenbamroong’s spicy take on pad Thai (he adds sweet radish and chili powder) for a light evening meal.
