Originally established in Silver Lake by husband-and-wife duo Kevin and Bo Carney, the Japanese-inspired Mohawk General Store purveys an impressive roster of international designer labels for women and men (e.g., Ann Demeulemeester, SMOCK, Lemaire, Issey Miyake, Dries Van Noten) in addition to ceramics, locally produced sculpture, vintage audio equipment, fragrances, and jewelry. The Carneys recently opened a Santa Monica location near Venice Beach to service fashion-forward West Siders; the 2,000-square-foot space opens to an even larger outdoor cactus garden, where local-art exhibitions and documentary screenings take place regularly.
