Kismet (Arabic for “destiny”) is a relaxed all-day restaurant in Los Feliz that reinterprets Middle Eastern classics for today’s Southern Californian. Chefs Sara Kramer and Sarah Hymanson (of Madcapra in L.A.’s Grand Central Market, and Eater’s 2017 Chefs of the Year) serve up dishes like Persian-style frittata with spinach, barberries, and white beans for day and squid with peppers, plums, and turmeric amba at night; many of their specialties and meant to be enjoyed family-style, cementing Kismet’s casual vibe. Ethics are of utmost importance here: ingredients are sourced from responsible local farmers, and there’s a 20 percent service charge to ensure fair pay for all employees (tipping is optional).
