This minimalist, pale-wood-paneled Italian diner—founded by Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo, the duo behind Animal and Son of a Gun—specializes in pizzas and pastas made from scratch in an open kitchen. The atmosphere is no-frills and convivial; it’s not uncommon to see the owners conversing with fellow diners in the East Coast tradition. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Jon & Vinny’s regulars come for the “breakfast pizza” with potato, egg, and rosemary; bruschetta with ricotta, orange-blossom honey, and sesame; and the mafaldine with “six-hour Bolognese.” Jon and Vinny’s accepts takeout and delivery orders, and don’t forget to peruse the well-edited wine shop in the back of house.
